Ethiopia Ayla Bombe
CHERRY | GRAPE | RED APPLE
The Ayla washing station is located in the village of Shantawene in Ethiopia. Here, Faysel Abdosh owns and operates multiple washing stations under the umbrella of Testi Coffee. Growing up in West Harar, Faysel started his own exporting company in 2009, working to develop communities within coffee producing regions and creating access to global specialty markets beyond the local market. In communities like Denbi Uddo and Aricha, Testi has built primary schools to ensure children receive education.
This lot from Ayla comes from cherries that are brought in from over one thousand smallholder producers, who grow the coffee in native forest conditions at high elevation under shade cover. The coffee is then prepared as a traditional natural process, undergoing meticulous sorting before being dried on raised beds.
In the cup, we taste juicy stonefruit and grape, with a crisp red apple finish.
