DUNE COFFEE ROASTERS
Panama Elida Estate
Panama Elida Estate
STRAWBERRY | PLUM JAM | CACAO
At the turn of the 20th century, Robert Lamastus purchased a coffee farm while living in Panama during the construction of the Panama Canal, naming it Elida after his wife, whom he met there. More than a century later, the estate remains in family hands, now stewarded by Wilford Lamastus Sr. and his son, Wilford Jr., whose relentless pursuit of quality has helped redefine Panamanian coffee on the world stage.
Perched high in Alto Quiel and surrounded by rainforest, Elida Estate sits where cool Caribbean and Pacific winds collide, blanketing the slopes in dense fog. Coffee trees thrive in nutrient-rich volcanic soils, and the cool temperatures at altitude slow ripening, allowing sugars and complexity to fully develop. After harvest, cherries are carefully stacked during drying to further extend the process, deepening sweetness and layering flavor.
In the cup, this Catuai offering from Elida Estate is lush and composed, with notes of strawberry plum jam, rounded cacao richness, and a long, resonant finish that reflects both place and the Lamastus family’s enduring legacy.
