Decaf can have some negative connotations, especially when the question of “how do they remove the caffeine?” comes up. Our Presidio Decaf is a blend of coffees from various smallholder producers in the Cauca region of Colombia. These coffees are selected for their cup quality and identified to undergo ethyl acetate decaffeination, which takes place in Colombia before being exported.

Ethyl acetate is a solvent which is mainly derived from fermented sugar, pulling out caffeine from the coffee. The result is a coffee that is almost completely free of caffeine, while having a flavor profile characteristic of the region and elevated sweetness.
